Ramadan 2022 ,

I would like to send my warmest wishes to all Muslims in Germany for this year’s Ramadan.
Celebrating this important religious event has been greatly restricted over the past two years. This year, many things will be possible once again, even if we have not yet overcome the pandemic and still need to take precautions.
You – Germany’s Muslims, your communities and your representatives – have invested much energy in helping to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and in following the rules, and you have also campaigned in particular for vaccination. I would like to sincerely thank you for this and encourage you not to give up now. We need to increase vaccination rates even further and promote booster vaccinations.
The war in Ukraine is a drastic example of how living together in harmony and solidarity, in freedom and in dignity should not be taken for granted. This is something we all need to work on every single day. We need to work together to strengthen cohesion in our society, to bravely take on the challenges that come with living together in our country and to resolutely stand up to the hate, incitement and violence that are directed towards Muslims time and again. I am committed to this as Federal Minister of the Interior and Community.
I hope you can use the days and weeks ahead to draw optimism and strength from your faith, and I wish you all a peaceful time of prayer and reflection, with plenty of rest, joy and compassion.
Federal Minister Faeser
